Fighting together to tackle absenteeism

By offering direct access to a doctor. Preventive. For both employees and managers.

We actively support HR in fighting absenteeism

Active approach employees

We don't wait for employees to come to us. We call employees who are sick for over 7 days. And promote our service.

We think along with absenteeism strategy

With HR, we determine the appropriate approach to tackle absenteeism. We adapt our working methods accordingly.

We measure the impact of our services

Through questionnaires at the beginning and end of the coaching, we track the improvement for the employee.

What our clients say about Abum

"We at Mediq, but also I as HR Director, are extremely enthusiastic about using Abum.

This low-threshold intervention, which also prevents employees from dropping out and gives employees tools to get moving, really helps us ensure that we become and remain a healthy organisation."

Leontine Westerbroek, HR Director

Employee health as an ice berg.

Lots of attention and resources for absentee workers.

Tip of the iceberg: ~5-10% of your employees are absent. Employers spend lots of resources on this group. However, the potential for prevention is limited.

Our focus: largest group with least resources but most potential.

Abum focuses on this largest group of employees (~50-70% of the workforce). They have mild symptoms or some unhealthy behaviour, but are not absent from work. They receive little HR attention and resources, yet have a significant potential for prevention.

Healthy, fit employees have limited potential for prevention.

This groups mainly responds to company wellbeing programs (~10-20% of your workforce). However, they are already quite healthy, so the potential for prevention is limited.

Building partnerships with employers to drive impact.

Changing people's health can be hard but achievable. This requires trusted partnerships with employers, based on a shared commitment to change and transparency. We co-create engagement activities to ensure our services reach everyone. We share (anonymized) data on our services, including the topics we encounter. Sometimes this prompt company-wide initiatives.

What makes us different?

Marketplace

Targeted coaching on single dimension (e.g. mental health) by specialist. Risks: not seeing an individual as a whole & medicalization.

No evidence underpinning the services. It's unclear for the employers how the services are being used and what the impact is.

Little attention to improve engagement, particularly among those who need the most.

Positive health coaching by a professional generalist (doctor, psychologist, physiotherapist).

Sharing data and insights from our services and advising on company-wide interventions.

Partnering with employers to develop engagement activities to ensure services are used by 'hard-to-reach' employees.

Energized people, positive results.

More engaged workforce

People at work feel appreciated and supported by their employer. Leading to more engaged, happier and healthier people at work. Less turnover.

Higher productivity

Your workforce is more empowered to adopt changes and to learn and develop. This results in higher creativity, effectiveness and productivity.

Reduced absenteeism

With the right support at the right time we expect less and shorter absenteeism. Potential annual savings could be between €300-500 per employee.

Abum is also financially attractive.

As with our coaching, we also keep it simple with the costs. You just pay us a fixed amount per employee per month. That includes all Abum services. Your employees can use them unlimited, with no strings attached. And yes: our services are cheaper than your other perks. This approach encourages us to continue focussing on prevention and positive health.
